A while ago I reviewed last year, and set out some general goals for this year. Here I will lay out operational details on my plans
Current foci

- Develop miso soup and seaweed salad recipes
- Get EMG interpreted and figure out next steps (late February)

1. Learn
MOOC-style course possibilities
- Introduction to Swift Programming part 1 (of a 4-course sequence)
=> I did this course, but was disappointed to discover after three weeks that it had not been updated in several years, and when it came time to actually use Xcode to build iOS apps, things had changed and the tutorial no longer matched the tools. …I am looking, instead, into a course on Swift offered by Apple, which will hopefully be up to date. - Python programming (MIT), part 1 (of a 2-course sequence)
- Agent Based Modeling with Netlogo (Coursera – 2-hours)
- Modeling Mycellial Growth with Netlogo (Coursera 1.5 hours)
- Cell Biology (AP) — Part 1: The Cell. EdX (Rice)
- Cell Biology: Transport and Signaling
- Fundamentals of Neuroscience, part 1 of a 3-course sequence) edX.
- Circadian clocks: how rhythms structure life (Coursera)
- Fundamentals of Immunology (Coursera)
- The Structure of Materials (MITx)
- Calculus: Single Variable Part 1 – Functions (Coursera)

Solo Reads
- Clean Sweep, Ilona Andrews. A bit romancy; don’t think I’ll read series.
- Consider Phleabas, Ian Banks. Somewhat better than other two I’ve read.
- Grayhouse, Mariam Petrosyan. Mildly engaging: good characters and setting, but a bit too ambiguous and plot-less for my taste.

- A Monstrous Regiment, Terry Pratchett. Disappointing: clever but not serious.
